IOF Regional Conference

Published

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) regional conference was hosted in Tokyo (11 – 13 Dec) and included broad topic presentations on latest treatments, fracture risk assessment, genetic factors and the evolving impact of AI on bone research.

In addition, the Asia-Pacific Regional Audit was launched, a collaboration between Asia Pacific Consortium on Osteoporosis (APCO) and IOF. The audit includes input from national patient societies and medical societies and provides a comprehensive overview of the burden and management of fragility fractures across 22 countries in the region. The combined impact of ageing populations and increased number of fractures reveals the urgency for managing bone health appropriately throughout the region and the opportunities to reduce the impact of osteoporosis.

APCO Chair Dr Manju Chandran was presented with a special IOF Award (pictured below) for leading this large collaborative project.

Patient societies from across the region were represented within the exhibition area including Australia, China, India. Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan and Thailand.
