Healthy Bones Australia welcomes Olympic and World Champion, Sally Pearson OAM, as the new Know Your Bones Ambassador.

Greg Lyubomirsky, CEO Healthy Bones Australia said “Sally is inspiration to so many Australians and we are excited to announce her new role as ambassador.”

Sally said “I am delighted to be the new Know Your Bones Ambassador to help raise awareness about bone health.”

Know Your Bones is an online self- assessment, based on Australian research and developed by Healthy Bones Australia and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.

This consumer tool provides a simple first step to understand risk factors for osteoporosis and provides an individual report which can be discussed with a doctor, if required.

Sally said “I encourage the community to be pro-active about their bone health and take the online test now.”

Sally Pearson said “based on my personal experience with fractures I know how important it is to look after your bones.”

Sally was shocked by the difficult recovery process she experienced after her fractured wrist during a race in Rome (in 2015).

“the rehabilitation process was more traumatic than the actual fracture. Thankfully, because my bones were generally quite strong I was able to mount a successful recovery from my injury and to win my second World Championship in 2017.

This is not the case for many Australians living with osteoporosis. We know too many people are suffering unnecessarily from broken bones that could be prevented.”
