Home › News › World Osteoporosis Day 2025 World Osteoporosis Day 2025 Published October 14, 2025 Help us spread awareness about the importance of bone health and the need to prevent fractures associated with osteoporosis. Know Your Bones online self-assessment is an easy first step to review risk factors for poor bone health. Over 127,500 Australians have already completed the online tool. Who should take action? Adults with risk factors should speak to their doctor and may require a bone density test. In particualr adults over 50 who fracture a bone from a minor bump or fall should be investigated for underlying osteoporosis. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help protect bone health and reduce the risk of future fractures. How common is osteoporosis? Currently in Australia there are over 196,000 fractures each year associated to poor bone health. Many of these fractures could be prevented. Healthy Bones Australia is encouraging everyone to focus on their bone health as part of general health during October as part of extended World Osteoporosis Day activities. Print and share our World Osteoporosis Day Posters in your work place, community centre, aged care centre, or anywhere else appropriate. World Osteoporosis Day is an awareness initiative in partnership with the International Osteoporosis Foundation.
