Healthy Bones Australia (HBA) representatives Greg Lyubomirsky, CEO and Melita Daru, Marketing Manager met with Dame Barbara Frost (pictured centre) at the HBA offices in Sydney to discuss national programs and policy initiatives. Dame Frost is living with osteoporosis and recently joined the Board of the Royal Osteoporosis Society in the UK.

The Royal Osteoporosis Society represents over 3.5 million people living with osteoporosis in the UK and was awarded the Third Sector ‘Medium Charity of the Year’ award in 2023 for tackling head-on the culture of passivity and defeatism around osteoporosis, as well as ageist stereotypes that have caused a treatment gap. The charity’s new strategy aims to push osteoporosis to the top of the public health agenda, ending the missed opportunities for prevention.

HBA has a similar focus and last year launched the Community Risk Report, third edition, at Parliament House Canberra in the lead up to World Osteoporosis Day which highlighted the need for early investigation and improved diagnosis to protect bone health in the community.
