Healthy Bones Australia has developed a range of strategic and burden of disease reports. They present a clear picture of the impact of osteoporosis and related fractures in Australia and a pro-active approach to reduce the impact.

Community Risk Report (Fourth Edition) 2025

Launched by Healthy Bones Australia on 27^th October 2025 at Parliament House Canberra with Assistant Minister Rebecca White MP, Know Your Bones Ambassador Sally Pearson OAM, patient advocates and medical experts. This report is based on over 126,500 completions of the Know Your Bones online self-assessment. 

Osteoporosis and fractures in Australia. A burden of disease analysis 2023-2033

A comprehensive burden of disease analysis detailing prevalence and cost impact of osteoporosis and related fractures in Australia. This report was launched at a special event at Parliament House Canberra, 10th October 2024, in the lead up to World Osteoporosis Day.  

Position Statement on Improving Bone Health and Osteoporosis Management in Australia

Statement from National Consumer and Community Forum (Nov 2020) outlining specific recommendations and actions to improve the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis and overall bone health across the community. The Forum included patients living with osteoporosis, GPs, medical specialist groups, hospital clinicians, National and State policy-makers, professional associations, health organisations, community support groups and bone health-related organisations.

Know Your Bones Community Risk Report – Previous Editions

The Third Edition Report was released at Parliament House Canberra at an event hosted by the Parliamentary Friends of Aged Care, and officially launched by then Hon Emma McBride MP Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health (Oct, 2023). The second edition report was released in the lead up to World Osteoporosis Day 2021 indicating risk factors for osteoporosis are not routinely investigated and demonstrated a gap in osteoporosis care across Australia. The inaugural Know Your Bones report was launched in 2018 as part of World Osteoporisis Day activity.

Launched by Federal Minister for Health Greg Hunt MP in October 2019, this National Action Plan (NAP) outlines the 3 key Priority Areas and related actions for reducing the impact of osteoporosis as a chronic disease in Australia (overview included, report length 34 pages)
